Ecuador’s Lenín Moreno suggests changes to his economic reform proposal

During his weekly televised address, he also announced the increase of the maximum amount exempt from tax for monthly cash withdrawal and the improvement of incentives of income tax payment for new investments.

Quito, Nov 14 (Andes). – Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno announced Monday some changes in the draft bill on Economic Recovery including the elimination of shareholder’s liabilities in the obligations generated by the administration.

“Meeting the demands of some sectors,” the chief of state said he has ordered the elimination of reforms that changed income taxes of citizens with no children and also the improvement of benefits for household heads who maintain their parents.

Another change suggested to modify his initial proposal has to do with the increase in the amount of personal exemption in case of catastrophic diseases.

During his weekly televised address, he also announced the increase of the maximum amount exempt from tax for monthly cash withdrawal and the improvement of incentives of income tax payment for new investments.

“I would like you to keep the principles of equity and solidarity, especially with those in need as well as actions that protect dollarization,” he said.

Exemption to advance payment of income tax

The head of state also announced the signing of an Executive Decree that exempts companies that sell up to 500 thousand dollars from the 2017 advance payment of income tax; the 60% reduction for those that sell up to one million dollars and 40% for those that exceed sales for one million dollars.

The president urged upon companies to do their best leaving differences behind in order to achieve “prosperity for all.”

On the other hand, Moreno discussed about the fact that his government will promote reading and called upon Ecuadorians to visit the Book Fair that takes place in Quito’s Convention Center.

He also urged on Ecuadorians to participate in the second edition of Loja’s Live Arts Festival to take place on November 16 to 26.

The chief of state welcomed the launching of ‘Las Manuelas’ mission. “‘Las Manuelas’ will visit many homes to meet the needs of persons with disabilities,” he said.

President Moreno also announced agreements between State institutions with the aim of “urgently and comprehensively” eradicate sexual assault in schools.
